“You and your baby always divided into molecular and experience. Dynamic exchange of information and bring this chemical communication between your mind and heart to the hearts and minds of your baby. “

“The choice you make as a mother is the key to a good start. Your awareness is a key area for best results. “

“Love will ensure that our children will understand themselves as spiritual beings like themselves extraordinary.”

“When the mind is in good condition, you can see the Remote into the conscience.” (Steven Levine) “The human eye is open, they see the panorama of the outside world. While the human eye closed, they see the panorama with their inner eye. People spend a lot of time to see the diverse panorama outside. However, as much as can be seen in the panoramic heart. (Michale and nancy Samuel)

“Psychological Research shows that the autonomic nervous system responsible for arranging psychological function spontaneously, reacting to imaginary events and events which we remember as if they were really going on in the world of design and actual phenomena.” (I use this technique to bring my husband who is outside the country and only met once a year. It’s really like there’s always near me-author blog)

“(In the stress / not comfortable) The unborn activate the fight or flight response, but unfortunately it is not able to run or fight the source of inconvenience.” “Do your best to avoid the sounds the repeated and pressing, because the negative impact of sound pollution for mothers and babies. “The pressure of the massage out to change the activity and fetal heart beat. And in the sixth month, the fetus in the womb the same as feel to touch one year old baby. “

“The uterus is a very dark place, but little light can penetrate into it. Much evidence suggests that 20-10% outside light can reach the fetus is not a perfect point. Visual stimulation of the fetus is determined by what you see. We really encourage you to regularly find the pictures enjoyable. “”A number of studies show that an unborn baby will increase or decrease the swallowed food or drink based on taste amniotic, but seem to love the sweet taste.”

“Baby able to remember the smell of the uterus. Once born, if she can choose between the nipples sucking mother has not been washed, which produces a smell similar to amniotic fluid, or breast that have been washed, then more than 75% of babies will choose the breast with the smell of amniotic she’s already know. “

“What do you see its you”. “You are what you eat.”, Etc.. In essence they are all expressions say the same thing: “Our experiences shape us.” “Every perception of sensory and emotional reactions associated with changing electrical elements and chemicals in our bodies.”"Promises to give your baby sounds healthy with adequate and proper dosage. While the “Mozart effect” is still being debated, a lot of information that music can soothe body, mind, and soul. “

“Three things can cause you to lose balance: First, the turmoil of mind over (Vata / Wind), Second, frustrating and angry feelings (Pitta / Fire), and third, lazy and not doing anything (Kapha / Earth). You can use music to balance the third in this situation.”A number of studies indicate that pregnant women who have a massage, sleep more soundly and suffer stress and depression levels are lower.” (Learning & Training massaging himself Graphics .. including massaging the perineum are also tablets (between the vagina and anus)

“A fascinating study done by TGR Bower 70s which showed that at the age of a few hours, a newborn baby would rather see his mother’s face from the faces of other women.” (What is your husband doing the same thing hahaha-author blog) “In his book What Color Is Your Diet? David Heber, MD reminds us that expanding food colors will enhance the nutritional value. “” If you need to expand or be careful in your eating so that the average body shape of a healthy fetus, consider this change as an opportunity to develop flexibility, capacity will be very helpful in raising your children. “

“Seeking an opportunity to connect with aspects of yourself more presence in allows you to be more balanced, less reactive, more responsive, not easily agitated, more creative, and reduce the tendency to make all aspects of life as usual.”

“The tendency of modern mothers crave fruits, juices, cereals, flour, sugar foods, and dairy products may be as a result of the selection process increases the likelihood that she chooses foods that are nutritious, safe, and high calorie.”Pregnancy is a time transformation of the dynamic with a variety of physical and emotional challenges.” “You are not utter emergency is usually a cause of the emergence of emotions that hit.” “Emotions are divided into two major categories: comfortable and uncomfortable.” “Things that you observe shortly after the baby is born is that a variety of feelings emerged and varied needs. “

There are five key questions we recommend that you ask when the emotional turmoil happening in your mind and body: What is going on that interferes my feeling? What emotions are being churned within me? What hopes are not fulfilled? (We have four main desires: material comfort, love and connectedness, purpose in life, and spiritual enlightenment)

“We believe that pregnancy is a natural process, if possible, more medical intervention is preferable to some more.” “Size of a successful pregnancy is not as much or as little as any technological intervention, but that produces a healthy mother and baby. “

“To produce the baby may be a physical and emotional experience of the most powerful in the life of a woman.” “Beauty and the strength is within you.Pregnancy and childbirth is a time for change in themselves. “

Paxil, also known by its generic name paroxetine, is one of the worlds most widely prescribed antidepressants. Recently, however, Paxil’s Pregnancy category class was updated. In this update Paxil was moved to a category “D” medication instead of a category “C” for use during pregnancy. The update is to reflect a stronger warning about use during early pregnancy as there are chances for birth defects to occur. Drugs that are placed in Category “D” have shown higher risks to fetuses in studies of pregnant women. The benefits of the therapy may outweigh the risks in using drugs from this category. The FDA recently released a statement with regards to Paxil and pregnancy. The advisory released by the FDA states: “FDA is advising health care professionals to discuss the potential risk of birth defects with patients taking Paxil who plan to become pregnant or are in their first three months of pregnancy. Health care professionals should consider discontinuing Paxil (and switching to another antidepressant if indicated) in these patients. In some patients, the benefits of continuing Paxil may be greater than the potential risk to the fetus. FDA is advising health care professionals not to prescribe Paxil in women who are in the first three months of pregnancy or are planning pregnancy, unless other treatment options are not appropriate.”

Another danger to an unborn kid is that the risk of Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn (PPHN), the failure of traditional circulatory transition that happens throughout birth. Newborns are in danger of experiencing below traditional lung operate that might cause respiratory distress. Also according to the FDA, early results from the two studies showed that women who took Paxil during the first three months of pregnancy were about 1.5 to two times as likely to have a baby with a heart defect as women who received other antidepressants or women in the general population. In one study, the risk of heart defects in babies whose mothers had taken Paxil early in pregnancy was about 2%, compared with a 1% risk in the whole population. In the other study, the risk of heart defects in babies whose mothers had taken Paxil in the first three months of pregnancy was 1.5%, compared with 1% in babies whose mothers had taken other antidepressants in the first three months of pregnancy. The FDA has begun to warn about the potential side effects of Paxil especially those in pregnant women. If you would like to start using Paxil for your signs and symptoms of depression, consult with your doctor first.

I am sixteen years old and I have issues with bulimia, anxiety, and depression.
My ex boyfriend and I messed around in January while we were still together. There was a very slim chance that I am pregnant. I have gotten my period January, February, and March. I took a pregnancy test in early February that was negative. My logic tells me it is impossible to be pregnant and have a period.

But my anxiety will not leave me alone. It keeps making me imagine pregnancy symptoms. Every tiny ache and pain I get is a “symptom”. Pregnancy is the worst thing that could ever happen to me. The only thing worse is death.
I am so scared and I just want it to stop. Please help me. What can I do? I think I am going crazy.

I have been diagnosed with bipolar diorder and depression. I had been taking medications and kept my diorder under control for the past few years. Now I believe I am pregnant, and although it was not confirmed, my doctor advised my to begin lowering my doses as to stop my medication, for fear of hurting the baby. I am worried that without my medicine I may go back to being very depressed or in a state of mainia. I worry that something terrible may happen to me or my child unintentionally. I had a history of suicidal tendances before I began my medication. I intend on discussing this with my doctor and seeing what he advises, but I was just wondering if anyone else may have had the same psychological/medcial problem (just to ease my mind)

Your Question
Get answers from millions of real people.?
Hi my name is Amber and I am desperate for help for my 31 year old sister. She is in jail right now on very serious charges of child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance. She has two boys a 3 year old and a 2 year old. When her first son was 3 months old she found out she was pregnant again. Her body, hormones and emotional state of mind never recovered from her first pregnancy before she was pregnant again. She went into a serious case of postpartum depression. Work was out of the question for her because of these two young babies. She never got to enjoy her first son like what I feel she should of because of the youngest needing so much attention being a new born. She began to self medicate with xanax and it did seem to help at first but it soon became a very bad problem The father worked offshore and was gone all the time to support his family..Her and the kids and the father lived with us in Fl until about 6 months ago and we all knew how depressed she was so he moved them out to Ala in a beautiful home and tried to give them a better life. This really made it worst because now her and the kids are all alone out their and she no longer had her family and friends . She sunk more into her depression and into her medication. Things quickly took a turn for the worst. She got caught with some painkillers and got arrested for driving under the influence with her children in the car. She went to jail and we bailed her out and she was ordered to probation and something called drug court where she had to do a urine test once a week. We thought this would stop her and scare her straight… It did not… She went to a doctor who come to find out he is what you call a script doc who writes scripts for cash. She got prescription for loritabs and xanax. She let the drug court people know that she got her scripts and she thought she found a way to beat the system.. They also made her attend drug classes she only told them about her xanax and failed to mention her loitabs which is a pain killer because that what she got caught with so if they found out about them they would make her stop taking them. Needless to say they tested here there and she failed for the hydrocodien (loritabs) if the truth was known she was probably nodding out from her xanax and they tested her and of course she was dirty. So, now she violated her probation. She went to jail that day but was allowed to be signed out until her court date this coming Jan. Well, with all this trouble she has gotten in her head is really messed up and let me mention my sister has never been in trouble before this. Drugs have made her a totally different person. She was a straight A student growing up. A very reasonable person and a loving mother as time went on a the drug dependency got worst. I’m sad to say but the pills became number one for her. To get to my point . Last week she was arrested for leaving her 3 year old son in the car strapped into the seat belt in the car asleep in her drive way over night. The car door was left open and he was left in there for about 12 hours over night when a neighbor found him and called the police. They found her passed out on the hall way floor in her house closed to a overdosed and her 2 year old was on the couch a sleep. I believe she got the 2 year old out and was going back to get the 3 year old and passed out that’s why the door was left open. Words cant describe the anger we felt towards her for doing this. She could have killed him. We have left her in jail for what she has done to her kids. But she needs HELP desperately she is now possibly facing prison for what she has done but my sister never in her right mind do this to her kids. She loves those boys more then life its self and they love their mommy just the same . They were together 24-7 their whole life. This has ruined all of our lives. We have her children and they are fine. Lucky they are so young they dont understand what is happening and hopefully it wont scare them because I believe they wont remember this. I dont feel she needs prison but a rehab. At Least a year or longer. She is sick and anyone who knows about drug addiction knows it is a disease and a sickness. At that point she was incapable of taking care of them and passed out. She was probably close to dieing herself. I’m not sure but we have heard that she mixed methadone with her xanax that night. That is a deadly combination and she almost killed her children and herself. We need advice on what to do to help her get the help she needs. We wont get her out of jail because we know she has to pay for what she did to them babies but prison is not the answer. I feel that will only make it worst and not help the underlying problem of the depression that turned into a horrible drug addiction. This story has been all over the news radio and the papers here in Fl and Ala. You can go to Baldwin county in Alabama news website and

I’ve been feeling a little…off, lately. At first I was thinking maybe it was depression, but now I’m not quite sure thats what it is. I’ve been feeling quite tired lately, sleeping more than usual during the night and taking naps during the day. I started wanting food that I don’t eat on a normal basis. Also, at the beginning of these symptoms, my lower abdomen was sore, like I had been working out. Some places on my skin have been itching like crazy, especially my breast. I’m 20 years old, so I don’t think that they would be growing. My other suggestion besides depression would be pregnancy. It is possible that I could be pregnant, but I haven’t been through a full menstrual cycle to have missed a period yet. I should start in the next day or so. And I wouldn’t think that pregnancy symptoms would show up so quickly, but I wouldn’t know. Does anyone have any suggestions to what they think this may be? I appreciate all intelligent answers…Thanks!

Here is the problem, I am 36 weeks pregnant and up til recently I have been very excited about having a baby but that seems to be changing. Recently I have been having feelings of regret over the pregnancy, and sometimes I feel like I don’t want my baby at all. I know that sounds horrible to say and believe me, I don’t want to be feeling like this, I just can’t seem to help it. I have told my doctor about it and he thought it was just pregnancy related depression so he put me on medication about a month ago. I still haven’t noticed a difference though and I am worrying that it will get worse after the baby is born. The last thing I would ever want to do is take my feelings out on my baby. Has anyone out there ever had similar feelings? And if so, did they get worse or better after the baby?

I’m at the beginning of week 39 and we are still considering where to have our baby. I’m 29 years old, perfectly healthy, the baby is great too, weighs about 3 kilos and the pregnancy has so far been physiological with no problems whatsoever.
The dilemma is, we have 2 hospitals to choose from – one is a state hospital with a NICU but terrible conditions for the mothers – they actually still perform preventive episiotomies and women aren’t encouraged or allowed to give birth in any other position than the lithotomy (this is 21st century Slovakia)! I’m in depression just thinking about it
The other option is a state hospital in nearby Austria which is extremely baby- and mother-friendly, has great staff and they are willing to support me in every point of my birthplan. They are expensive almost beyond what we can afford (as I’m not insured in Austria, I’ll have to pay for everything) AND don’t have a NICU.
I feel that when I chose the medieval one, I’m doing the right thing for my baby, but I don’t know how big the risk is something goes wrong in this stage and he’ll actually need the NICU (it’s usually the premature babies who do, isn’t it?); on the other hand, I’m freaked out at the thought of the “treatment” I’ll get and the stress, pain and injury. If we choose Austria, I’ll feel irresponsible towards my baby, although the experience will undoubtedly be much more bearable for me and for him too (if everything goes allright).
What would you choose? Am Ia ctually putting the baby at real risk if I go to a hospital without a NICU? Or will the stress I’ll undoubtedly experience in the Slovak hospital be a sort of risk too? Thanks a lot for your opinions!
The transfer to an Austrian NICU and the care there would cost much (tens of thousands of dollars) and take long (it’s 50km).

A man’s sprem is good for a woman.

In addition to its central role in reproduction, various scientific findings indicate that semen has certain beneficial effects on human health, both proven benefits and possible benefits:

Antidepressant: One study suggested that vaginal absorption of semen could act as an antidepressant in women; the study compared two groups of women, one of which used condoms and the other did not.[4]
Cancer prevention: Studies suggest that seminal plasma both prevents and fights cancer, particularly breast cancer,[5] reducing risk by “not less than 50 percent.”[6][7] This effect is attributed to its glycoprotein and selenium content, with apoptosis being induced by TGF-Beta. A related urban legend parodied these findings and claimed that performing fellatio at least three times a week reduced the risk of breast cancer.[8]

Semen has been proven to act as a strong antidepressant in women so that women physically exposed to semen are less likely to suffer from depression. It is thought that the psychological effects of semen are a result of its complex chemical make-up including several mood-altering hormones (testosterone, oestrogen, follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, prolactin and several different prostaglandins). In a scientific survey of 293 college women it was also found that those who did not use condoms were most likely to initiate sex and to seek out new partners as soon as a relationship ended, suggesting that the chemical dependency to semen creates a “rebound effect”. The effect of semen on a male sexual partner (a receiver of semen) is not known.[14][15][16]

Preeclampsia prevention: It has been hypothesized that substances in semen condition a mother’s immune system to accept the “foreign” proteins found in sperm as well as the resulting fetus and placenta, keeping blood pressure low and thereby reducing the risk of preeclampsia. Regular exposure to the baby’s father’s semen, especially orally, may help make a woman’s pregnancy safer and more successful, because she is absorbing her partner’s antigens.[9]

My husband and I went through a very bad year, and we moved to atlanta for jobs that my sister helped us to get in door. My husband had been unemployed for an extended period of time- limited to no income for 3 years. I had been laid off and underwent treatment for cancer. Between my health and what I see as his struggle with depression we were beyond the boiling point- rock bottom. Moving, a steady income, and a fresh start seemed to be what we needed. Its not that it was perfect over night, but it was moving in the right direction. We were going to move into our own place next week., we have been going ou and there was passion and tenderness. . We are both well educated and though new at our jobs, earn a good joint income right now and have started to rebuild our savings. The night before last he assured me that he loved me and really wanted to be married to me and grow old together… Then yesterday I told him I was pregnant and he told me he wasn’t sure if he really loved me, and wanted me to have an abortion. He basically accused me of trying to trap him with a pregnancy or acted like it was deliberate.I had been told that due to endometriosis and the treatments I had gone through for cancer, it was unlikely that I would conceive with out assistance. We used contraceptives every time we were intimate despite what the doctors told me. We did have broken condemn and I did get pregnant. It is a shock to me too, not some plot. I am afraid of raising a child alone, or bringing a child into the world who isnt wanted by its father. I am afraid of losing my husband, and know men aren’t lining up to step in and date a women with a baby or even a young kid. My heart is broken to hear that my husband doesn’t know if he loves me because despite it all I love him, and that he wants to abort the baby. I am here in a new city with no one to talk to and I don’t know what to do. I called in sick to work just cant stop crying. If I am going to be single anyway maybe I shouldn’t have a child. Is it even fair to have this child? My heart is so broken and I am so scared.

Well you can now stop worrying about all those extra pounds that you will put on during pregnancy. New generation moms can easily get back their pre-pregnancy figure within a year.. With the right daily regime, workouts and a good diet; now getting pregnant does not mean getting fat.

However the right diet does not mean that you start dieting right after you deliver. Whether or not you are breast feeding, the first few months you should concentrate on nourishing yourself through a proper diet. You can start exercising along with a good diet intake. After a couple of months, your body returns to its normal level and then you can start your loosing weight. You can take weight loss tips from new moms who have lost weight after pregnancy.

How Many Months Before I Return To My Normal Weight?

Weight gain during nine months is in the normal limits (20 – 30 pounds) then you should be able to lose weight in less than a year. This process takes time but ensures that your weight loss is at the right pace and safe. Post pregnancy period usually leaves the new moms low on self esteem. Some would be still coping with massive weight gain; some would constantly worry about milk stains on their clothes. Many women might not get enough time to take even a proper bath. Women do tend to get depressed for these reasons and do not know how cope with the change in their life. Many women constantly worry about sex after long nine months. They do not feel very comfortable indulging in intercourse as their body is out of shape.

These problems can be easily dealt with if you work towards your goal with a healthy weight loss regime. Pregnancy weight loss should be planned in consultation with your doctor. You should also keep in mind your physical condition before making a diet or exercise plan.

Exercising Helps

As a balanced diet plays a vital role in weight loss, exercise also plays a major part. Exercising however should not be started without the doctor’s consultation.

Exercise helps in post pregnancy weight loss. It also helps to increase your self confidence and lends you a hand if you are dealing with depression. Exercising affects breast milk is a myth and you should not bother about it.

Weight Loss Through Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding also helps moms’ lose weight. Breast feeding releases hormones which help your body to return to its normal level which in turn helps you regain your normal weight.
Breastfeeding is not a fool-proof method of weight loss after pregnancy. In most cases, women start losing weight only after they stop breast feeding.
Also relying on breast feeding may make you careless towards your diet and workout routine.
You can go on a low fat diet even if you are breast-feeding. Do ensure that you are taking at least 1800-2000 calories per day.

Remember that your body has gone through a lot of strain and changes. Post pregnancy care is very important for your body to heal and also to ensure weight loss after pregnancy.

Weight loss tips are very much in demand. Weight loss is an area of concern after the pregnancy period. A lot of weight gain during pregnancy, can scare women to go for crash diets. But with the right daily regime, workouts and a good diet, weight loss after pregnancy can be achieved.

Ive had issues Ive tried coping with and figuring out, such as mood swings, depression, and also anxiety. I was on effexor XR to treat both depression and anxiety, but wasn’t on it long enough to feel the full effects as it wasn’t safe for my pregnancy. Well, I lost the baby and am feeling very anxious lately about everything. I think about the fact the baby’s gone and will never be back again.. and I freak out inside. It used to be so bad where I would feel very anxious in the evenings when I saw the sun setting. Alot of night I couldn’t sleep so I would wait up and watch out the window anxiously waiting for the sun to come back up again.
So okay, here is my question: Anyone had an anxiety disorder? What were your experiences, did you get treated? What was the name of the perscription and did it help? Thanks alot.
Oh, also, I am currently on Prozac which my Dr switched me over to because it was safe for the pregnancy. Im still taking it

In the start of my pregnancy, it was rough, because it was not expected, and it was hard for my boyfriend to accept. After a few weeks, I was happy about it, and he grew happy too. We went and bought little things here and there. My boyfriend is supportive & now is excited to find out the sex, and is taking part in my prenatal visits, and growing into ‘being a dad’.

Me, on the other hand…..

I have secretly started to feel worse and worse about the pregnancy. I haven’t really told anyone, except mention a little to a close friend. I am filled to the brim with fear and paranoia that because of my past and health issues I will have damaged my child and be a horrible parent… I just feel like everything is a mistake. I feel like I am confused to have my baby. I have thought of abortion, I am pro-choice, but I don’t believe in it for myself. I don’t know how I could live with myself. I have thought of adoption too, but my boyfriend would never agree, and I don’t know how I could live knowing I gave away my kid. I can only imagine how upset my family would be. My family is so happy I am pregnant!

I have done everything right, take my prenatals, go to my visits, eat right, keep informed, stopped cold turkey smoking, drinking and smoking weed, even though it was medical. I changed all my skin care and hair products and house cleaning products to safe organic stuff. I was obsessed with doing everything so perfect and healthy. I felt so happy to ‘be a mom’

I have suffered from depression all my life, on and off and have been on various medications on and off. I also suffer from seasonal depression as well, and some years I took anti-depressants through the fall and winter months . (I had wanted to try the light therapy, but all the side effects are things I already suffer from and to risk having more migraines, nausea, sleeping problems wasn’t worth it to me! + they can be costly)

I have not been taking medication for a while now, and was doing well. I’ve been reading different self help books & I had been going to a therapist & I thought it helped, but it has not I guess. I know some medications are supposedly ‘safe’ for pregnancy, but I don’t want to go that route, I don’t buy it, and do not even like taking the medication for myself in the first place.

Each day is harder. I don’t have any fun when I do anything, I can’t get out of bed. Sometimes I can’t bring myself to even work. Sometimes I sleep 18 hours a day.Sometimes I can’t sleep. I think about dieing, but I know I would never do it, because I really want to Iive, enjoy life and be a Mom! I feel ashamed to feel this way when so many others would be happy to in my shoes. I don’t know what to do….if therapy, reading, and medication isn’t working or not good for me, what am I supposed to do? Is this semi-normal/hormonal thing? Will it just pass?

I just want to be feel happy and bring my baby into the world wanted- with a happy mom.

But there is good news about postpartum mood disorders—they are almost 100% treatable.

We have watched Tony Soprano go in and talk to his therapist as well as Robert DeNiro, the crime boss talking to his therapist played by Billy Crystal in the movie ‘Analyze This’. Watch any soap opera and they will get around to having a character see a shrink. Bob Newhart had a popular comedy show about a psychologist and his hilarious contacts with his patients from group therapy. So we all know about therapy. Some of us think that only real sickos go in to visit a shrink and some of us won’t even admit we might need a helping hand from a therapist.

There are different approaches to therapy and you need to know this because if you go to therapy you want to know which approach your therapist is using. You can choose because you have the up front knowledge you got here.

Psychotherapy:

This is the most famous kind of therapy we have heard of where a person goes in, lays down on a couch or sits in an easy chair, and talks about his mother. It’s probably the worst way to treat depression.

Sigmund Freud started this idea which said that behavior today is caused by our childhood conflicts. Before a person can get better, he or she must solve the riddle of why he did things as a child. Insight must be achieved. You have to know exactly why you got depressed before you get any better. The results of this type therapy have not been very effective. You can work and work and find out why you do the things you do but if you don’t change your behavior, no good results happen. You are talking about the past and trying to analyze things that happened maybe forty years ago. The therapist typically sits there and tells you nothing, wanting you to come to your own conclusions. This therapy can go on forever, or as long as you have the money to afford it. Few insurance companies are going to foot the bill for this drawn out therapy. Only someone like Woody Allen can afford to keep it going.

Behavioral Therapy:

In this type of therapy the only thing you will be talking about is your behavior, what you did. The basis of this therapy is that you are feeling depression because of what you did. This therapist won’t be going into your past and asking about your parents or your birth order. This therapist wants to hear what is happening and then will work with you to change your behavior and do it now. It works very well for many people.

Cognitive Therapy:

This therapy has as it’s belief that all emotion comes from thoughts. The basis for this therapy is for you to interrupt your thoughts, ask if they are really good and true, and discard them if they are not. This therapy says that you have to review the way you typically think. Then you ask yourself if this thinking is based on good sound information.

If you decide it is not, you need to change your way of thinking. It is a good therapy for someone who likes to spend a lot of time thinking about and analyzing their thoughts. For others it’s way too complicated.

Suffering A Stroke And Feeling Hopeless

Getting severely depressed after having a stroke is not unusual. When my mother had her first massive stroke and I went to the hospital, tears were flowing down her face and she kept telling me, ‘I don’t want to live’. My mother was always a very proud, independent woman. She did not want to depend on anyone. She was depressed and very angry. Nurses did not want to come into her room because she would not play the game and act grateful because she was unhappy. No one discussed depression with me, not her doctor, not her neurologist. But I knew how bad it was. The depression had to be treated if my mother would ever get rehabilitated.

People who have a stroke need very much attention and love. They feel helpless and hopeless. Recently a neighbor of mine had a stroke and when I went to the hospital, she too was crying and so sad. She is a widow who prides herself on being independent at age 86. The problem with her situation is that she was depressed for at least a year prior to the stroke since her husband had died. When the stroke hit her it was double trouble.

Treatment for depression can shorten the rehab process, lead to quicker recovery, and save health care costs. It makes so much sense that it’s hard to believe that doctors don’t seem interested in explaining this to family members right up front. Depression is something that stroke victims deal with a large majority of the time. Even though stroke is a disease of the brain, it can affect the entire body. Some of the disabilities that can result from a stroke include paralysis, thinking problems, speech problems, emotional difficulties, fatigue, and daily living problems. Many people require psychological help after a stroke. Depression, anxiety, frustration and anger are common in stroke victims. It depends on the person and what his or her life has been like so far. If you know someone who has had a stroke, you know recovery is a slow and long lasting process.

If you or your loved one has a stroke, be prepared for damage to that person’s self image and self esteem. It is very common for stroke victims to feel they have no future. Make sure that anti depressants are part of the program for anyone you care about who has a stroke. Insist that the doctor find the right combination of meds. Maybe it will take some time but you and your loved ones are worth it. Depression can be treated in addition to whatever other illnesses a person might have, including stroke. If you think you may be depressed or know someone who is, don’t lose hope. Seek help

Depression and Parkinson’s Disease

It is very sad to know that at least half the people with this disease experience depression. First they are the victim of one horrible disease, and then they suffer from depression. The person who has it, their families, friends, and doctors so often misinterpret the warning signs of depression and just think it is part of the other disease. Men in particular do not want to say that they are depressed as a result of this illness.

Symptoms of these two illnesses tend to overlap each other. Not enough research has been done on relationship between these two illnesses. People with depression who have Parkinson’s disease have a different symptom group than those without Parkinson’s. The Parkinson’s profile includes higher rates of anxiety and sadness without guilt or self-blame.

Parkinson’s disease is a chronic and progressive disorder of the brain. It affects the motor system, but also thinking and emotion. It results from the loss of brain cells that control movement. The four primary symptoms of Parkinson’s are: trembling in hands, arms, legs, jaw, and face; stiffness of arms and legs, slowness of movement, and poor balance and coordination. Plus it causes difficulty walking and talking.

Anything which can help these victims and lift their sprits is needed ASAP. Antidepressants can be extremely helpful for anyone dealing with Parkinson’s. Treating depression can help anyone feel better about and cope better with their illness. Doctors of Parkinson’s patients need to devote the time and energy to finding the right prescription and right dosage. Be sure you insist that the doctor is “on it” and the help is given. As usual, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don’t hesitate to demand the care you need.

Depression can and should be treated when it co-occurs with other illnesses. Untreated depression can delay recovery from it or worsen the outcome. If you or someone you love has Parkinson’s disease, don’t give up and don’t lose hope. Depression is a treatable disorder of the brain. Depression can be treated in addition to Parkinson’s. Get the help you need, even if you have to demand it.

We are having some marital issues, which has caused me to become depressed even before I was pregnant. But since I’ve been pregnant it is much harder to handle it. I also found out that my depression can have very harmful effects on our baby, including irritalbity and behavioral problems as a baby and young child. And depression later in life. I tried every trick that is natural but nothing works. Some (very rare) days, when my husband decides to be loving and show affection I feel great and my depression is gone with the new hope for a better future. But then comes the next letdown again, and at this point I have lost all hope for change. After 2.5 years, I also lost all energy and the will to change myself, although I know that I need to change too. I just want to be mean to him, because it is easier than to keep trying to be the nice wife, when he is unwilling to be loving with me. If we did not have this baby on the way, I’d be moving out. I wonder if some “happy pill” would help?
