I suffer with depression and bi-polar disorder. I to was anxious when my husband and I decided to start our family. When I was preggers with my first I didn't take any medication for the depression and was fine. I did stress alot but we made it just fine. Then when I was preggers with my daughter I was taking Zoloft and decided while I was preggers I wouldn't take it. Big mistake. I was a huge ball of tears through the entire pregnancy. I'm now preggers with my 3rd and Continued taking my meds, my doctor OK'd it. This is the smoothest pregnancy ever. I wish I would have taken my meds through the other pregnancies because a happy mom is alot better than a stressed out psycho mom. Pregnancy was trying but SO SO SO worth it. My kids have helped some of my depression issues over the years. So I wish you and your husband the best of luck. Don't be afraid off talking to your ob/gyn about your depression issues. GOOD LUCK

Hopefully you can pull through this like I did. I was the same as you, struggled with bi-polar and several other mental disorders UNTIL I was pregnant. When I got pregnant I had already weaned myself off all meds (with Doc's orders). I was SO anxious about how I was going to deal with every day life, let alone a pregnancy involved even though it was something I wanted more than anything. After I got pregnant I had a calm feeling that came over me and I was never quick to anger and I always was "drugged with happiness". My hormones completely changed and I felt better than I did when I was on medicine. Now that I had my babies and am still not taking medicine my hormone imbalance returned and it was most definite immediately after their birth but it's been controllable. I would suggest that you always let your OB/GYN know what is going on when you get pregnant and they will always do everything they can to help you out mentally while pregnant even if you do need meds to help. My OB was more than happy to offer depression meds to me after my birth as women who suffer from depression before pregnancy often have a higher chance of also suffering after pregnancy but I opted to not take the medicine and I am 8 week past my c-section and still maintaining a normal lifestyle. You can do it!
